Not located nearby? Our mail-in quilting service allows clients from anywhere to have their quilts professionally finished.
Start by checking out our selection of batting and backing options and all you’ll need to ship is your quilt top saving you shipping costs. When we receive your quilt we’ll contact you for your consultation. Click below to see our comprehensive mail in form.
Drop Off Service
Local clients are welcome to drop off their quilts directly at our Courtenay studio. Coming from out of town? Many of our clients plan a drop-off around a trip into town. Let us know when you’ll be here and we’ll accommodate your visit by appointment.
During your visit, we’ll review your quilt top, discuss quilting patterns, thread color, and batting options, and provide an estimated price and turnaround time. You’ll also have the opportunity to see our selection of wideback fabrics and batting and all you’ll need to bring is your quilt top.
Batting
Batting is the inner layer of a quilt that provides warmth, softness, and structure between the quilt top and backing. Choosing the right batting affects the loft, texture, and overall feel of your finished quilt. At Spectrum we offer hobbs heirloom batting a trusted brand for nearly 50 years.

Wideback Fabric
At Spectrum Quilting we offer a selection of quality wideback fabrics at an affordable price to compliment your quilt top.
Choosing a wideback fabric can save time from you having to seam multiple pieces together and help create a cleaner seamless look to complete the back of your quilt.

Binding Services
Have us bind your quilt, all you need to do is supply the fabric and we’ll do the rest. We machine sew the binding on both side. On the quilt top side we stitch close to the edge as seen in the picture above.
Binding $0.25 per lineal inch hand stitch option – you supply the fabric, we prep the binding and sew it onto the front of the quilt and it’ll be ready for you to flip to the back and hand stitch.
Binding $0.30 per lineal inch. Machine bind – you supply fabric, we prep the binding and we apply the binding.
Glide Thread
Spectrum Quilting uses premium Glide thread by Fil-Tec, a 40 weight trilobal polyester thread known for its vibrant colours and high sheen. We have a wide selection to choose from to coordinate with your quilt top whether you want the thread to blend or pop.
Clothing Alterations
In addition to quilting services, Spectrum Quilting also offers minor clothing alterations for local clients. Whether you need a simple adjustment or small repair, we provide careful, precise alterations to help your garments fit and function better.

Spectrum Quilting offers a wide range of edge to edge quilting patterns to complement any quilt.
Pricing
Pricing for edge to edge quilting is $0.03 per square inch of your quilt including thread and trimming. This includes most of our patterns stitched at a range from low to medium density. (Length x width x $0.03=cost of quilting + applicable taxes)

Mail In Instructions
Spectrum Quilting Mail-In Service
(we aim for 7-10 day turnaround from time we finish the consultation plus time to mail back to you)
Is this the first time you’re mailing a quilt to us? Give us a call to meet us and if you have any questions.
1 – Print ‘Mail-In Receiving Form’ to fill out. Found in Info.
2 – Do you need Backing fabric? See our selection under Materials/Widebacks.
3 – Do you need batting? Save on shipping cost due to bulkiness. See our selection under Materials/Batting.
4 – Would you like us to bind your quilt? See our binding options under Services.
5 – Review our Quilt Preparation Guide found in Info.
6 – Take a photo of your quilt top.
7 – View our Pattern Category list under Gallery. In each category we have included at least 3 options, we have many others but this is a start to choosing a pattern. If there is a pattern you immediately like then great, but if you’re looking for something different or a variation on a pattern you like, then choose up to 3. This will start the process for when we have the phone call consultation. Regarding thread, this is where the picture of your quilt will come in handy. You can refer to colours and fabrics in your quilt during the call and I’ll match or find what you are looking for. I’ll send you a photo of thread to make sure it’s what you’re envisioning. We’ll do the same for the bobbin thread. Write down the pattern/s under ‘additional info’ on the Mail-In Receiving Form.
8 – Package your quilt top and receiving form. Also, if applicable, your backing, batting & binding fabric.
9 – Mail package/s to: (see Contact Us) and email us a picture of the package/s you’re sending and let us know when you have sent your quilt. In the subject box of your email please type Package Picture/s.
10 – We will contact you when we receive your quilt to setup a time to have a phone call consultation to review the details of the Mail-In Receiving Form.
11 – We will notify you when your quilt is complete and send an invoice including cost to ship back to you and picture of your quilt/s.
12 – Send payment via e-transfer.
13 – We will deliver your quilt back to you.
14 – Enjoy your quilt!

8 – Pick up during hours of operation.
9 – Pay with debit/credit/e-transfer/cash.
